About
The Score
Watchmen, the film based on Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons' critically acclaimed comic series, was directed by Zack Snyder, and composed by Tyler Bates. The score in Watchmen, alongside its accompanying soundtrack, is a particularly powerful agent in both narrating the film and setting the mood and tone for the alternate 1985 universe painted by Snyder. The score is an eclectic concoction of music styles, from classic, sweeping orchestral movements to ambient, synthesised '80s nostalgia. Bates describes, "With Zack's movies there's always a pulp element. If you look at the story of Watchmen it's definitely a skewed or distorted expression of the '80s in a large part; the pop culture of the '80s is fused into it, especially when you look at the song list. The one thing about Zack's movies is that there is usually all this insanity that takes place and yet there's a headspace element that's running parallel. Often times that's because he has a lot of narration in the film. We visit these different concepts because that's where he's going with the film. For me, I'm into it."

The Composer
American recording artist, music producer and composer Tyler Bates is no stranger to composing dark, atmospheric films, juxtaposing eclectic music styles with a dramatic, emotional edge. He has already established a close relationship with Zack Snyder's work, having composed the latter's 300 and Dawn of the Dead. His other works include TV's Californication, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Doomsday and The Devil's Rejects. He is also the composer of the direct-to-DVD animated Watchmen prequel, Tales of the Black Freighter.

What is a fanlisting?
A fanlisting is simply an online listing of fans of a subject, such as a TV show, actor, or musician, that is created by an individual and open for fans from around the world to join. There are no costs, and the only requirements to join a fanlisting are your name and country. Fanlistings do not have to be large sites (although some are) - they are just a place where you can have your name listed along with other fans of the same subject. TheFanlistings.org is the original (but not only) web directory for fanlistings, dedicated to uniting fans across the globe.
